“Your work is to discover your work and then, with all your heart, to give yourself to it.”

— BUDDHA

The Desert Canary was founded in response to a need for a unique type of acupuncture and Chinese medicine experience - one that allows time for the healing session to unfold according to the distinct needs of the patient rather than on what can be fit in as the practitioner moves from patient to patient.

The Desert Canary endeavors to create continuity of the experience found at the flagship location of The Road. Highly skilled practitioners at the top of their game providing unique one on one sessions. They are singularly focused on the patient at hand, relying on a full toolbox of modalities that only years of practice can bring.

Consideration for healing on multiple levels is brought to bear, engaging all the senses through the lense of Feng Shui, from shapes and textures, colors and frequencies, subtly nudging us toward relaxation and healing.

Each modality complements the next, and they are all grounded in Chinese medicine, from meridians and channels, herbal therapies, frequencies, the synergy of points, sound, touch and more. To see one healer is to have access to the team and their collective guidance.

The Desert Canary was founded in response to a need for a unique type of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine experience…

Brooke and Mari met years ago in school for acupuncture and remained friends and supportive colleagues from then on. Their collaboration came from a passion to offer this medicine to those exploring how to live their best life, and especially those looking for guidance across all the modalities TCM has to offer.

They hope you find this healing space an integral part of your journey, and they are here to guide you in any way they can.

Each practitioner at The Desert Canary brings their own superpowers to the table.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine by their nature allow for intuition to enter the healing process. While the skill set for performing a treatment is instilled with years of study and internship, practitioners spend many hundreds of hours in extended studies and ancillary programs to hone their practice.

Our team thrives on healing through combined TCM and western knowledge of the body/mind. They also excel in niche areas in their own right - their passion healing. If you’d like to explore their specialties, please book a consultation and we’ll make sure you are matched with one of them accordingly.

  • Licensed Acupuncturist

Originally from Taiwan, I grew up in a lineage of Chinese herbal pharmacists who were passionate about providing professional medical support for people with disease.

With support and encouragement from my family, I become a licensed Physical Therapist in Taiwan, a Licensed Acupuncturist and basic NAET practitioner in Texas.

My aim is to help patients alleviate pain and illness by offering comprehensive treatments through a combination of acupuncture, herbal formulas, cupping, posture correction, stretching, muscle strengthening and NAET treatment. I believe that the synthesis of Western medicine and Chinese medicine leads to better therapeutic outcomes.

  • Licensed Acupuncturist

Raechel is a National Board Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s in Traditional Oriental Medicine from one of the highest ranked schools in the country, Emperor's College in Santa Monica California.

Clinical experience includes treating patients at the Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph’s Hospital, the Venice Family Clinic Simms-Mann Health and Wellness Center, under her mentor Dr. Benny Lin and in her own private practice in Los Angeles.

As a holistic practitioner Raechel integrates Acupuncture, herbal therapies, nutrition and supplements to address the underlying cause of illness. Her interest in traditional medicine began from personal experience as a patient and grew with studies of the natural world. A UCSC graduate with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science her knowledge of phenomenon in nature helped form a lens in which to view the human body through. Drawing parallels between the many physical ailments of today and disharmony in ecological macrosystems. These parallels have been observed in ancient medicines throughout the world and are still true today despite how modern life often paints humans as disconnected from their environment and the cycles of life.

Clinical interests include women’s health including cycle regulation, obstetrics and gynecology, prenatal and postpartum care, digestive disorders, general wellness and personalized herbal therapy.

Outside of the clinic Raechel enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two chihuahuas, gardening, traveling, thrifting and trail running
